San Pablo Mutant Trout Hunt - Friday 3/27/09

Only 2 lakes left on my annual spring tour of the East Bay lakes, Lafayette and San Pablo. I save Lafayette for last because I usually get skunked there and it gets me fired up for the 5/1 rockfish opener.  So Molly and I will be heading to San Pablo (AKA The Mud Hole) on Friday and launching at 8AM from the south boat launch. My kids are home for spring break so we will be having our family fishing throwdown with lunch at Scow Canyon. Artificials only so it will be challenging.    Probably target bass after lunch. Bringing some Banjo Minnows in case things are slooow.  Company welcome.!!!

 I get off that morning in Sac, it would be a late start, but when it comes to the " Mud Hole "

 Being Early usually means just waiting in line... 

 and just throw conventional methods and usual tactics on time right out the window...

 anything, anytime can Happen there....  I'm going to be trolling a trout swimbait this year...

 I firmly believe the world record LMB is in there....

Wish I could join you.  The action there was pretty good last week.  Unfortunately this Friday is tied up with WAF activities.  I may go tomorow or Thursday if anyone is interested in going along.

These are the Trout swimbaits we'd use at Lake Casitas in Ojai down south for big monster LMB's.

 The Real down and Dirty way would be to catch the appropriate size, string em up and Fly line it....

 Funny, I can drag it around on a metal stringer, but it's probably illegal to use as Bait...

I've seen people do it down south but I think it is illegal.
