I have been around the block and back on this issue...the only thing I still agree on is I hate the plano bait bucket!  I see it as the worst of all worlds, lots of drag and its shitty for keeping bait alive.

a) Minnows: Just a regular old bucket or small ice chest...no aerator or anything.

b) Jackies and shiners: A tube works pretty damn good.  If they're too big for the tube...they're too big!

c) Sardines, sardinas, chovies, theadfin: I have tried eveything, and there is no substitute for a good tank.

I like my Shimano as it works well for all, I just leave the pump out of the water for a), drop it in occasionally for b) and run it for c)  The layout is sweet and the extra rod holders are handy.  It also breaks down well for travel, and can serve as a small icechest for bringing fish home.

I think I'll try one of those bait tubes, it's the same concept as a cricket holder, right?
