Hit the delta Friday looking for some bassy action. Beautiful day out there. I haven't fished the delta in a loooooong time, and this was the first time I tried for LMB. Spent a part of the morning just looking around and scouting ahead before launching. Hobie blue gave directions to the area he likes to fish, but after prescouting I opted to go further down the levie and launch next to a place called Bullfrog landing. I liked the mix of structure and multiple intersections in the area, so I launched off the levie. Saw several bass boats working the area too, but never saw anyone hook any. I acutally didn't get on the water till 1pm. Worked a lot of good looking water, but never hooked up with a LMB. Missed two hits on a jig, (little rusty on the hookset) and then picked up three stripers on a crankbait. I was amazed at all the geese still in the area. There were thousands coming into the fields in the evening. On the way home I had to cross some tracks, and I see this train stopped about a hundred yards from the intersection. As I pull up there was a car on the tracks. The guy missed the road and ran into the tracks. Hit it so hard he activated both airbags!!! He was high centered on the tracks and couldn't get off. I looked for a hook or something to tie into to, to pull him off, but nada. Looked like he took the turn way too fast and over shot the turn.... Lucky the train engineer saw him and stopped. I took a quick pic as I drove by. The delta is definetly a different animal with those curents and all. I enjoyed it, and started getting the hang of it after some time. Fun working with new challenges. The water was only in the mid 50s, so I think the fish weren't too active. I'll be back tho... :smt002

Awesome, Ive driven past that spot many many times, but never have fished there. Lots of structure in the water there. Thanks for the report and pictures.

Thanks for the report and pictures jonesz. Boy, thank God the train operator saw
that car ahead of time. It would have been a big mess. BTW, way to go on the
striper.

Nice report, pics, and action on the stripers.  The LMB are hit and miss right now (cold water and changing weather systems), but stay after them, they are feeding when they feel like it.  Glad to hear nobody got hurt on the tracks.

That Darned Delta!! :smt012 Way to give it a go Glyn, at least you got a couple of jig hits, combined with a few stripers thrown in to make it all the better.
LMB or Striper in the delta is hard to figure out for alot of people(even me :smt005)
the LuckyGuy shouldn't be driving so fast around the corners and should be thankful he didn't require your HumanitarianServices.

Nice pics of the water&fish though, can't beat that BayouScenery! :smt007
