Well lets see..... I got a new wallet, some slippers, a flannel shirt,  new smart phone's (his n hers) which I am still too dumb to figure out  :smt013
But the best gift that tops them all was watching my 10 month old Grand Daughter open her first Christmas gifts and she loved her Grandpa's Turkey Dinner !
That made my Christmas !

Lifeproof life jacket for my iPhone, kayak dry bag/deck bag, some under armor shirts and an iPad mini. I don't know what I did but I must have been really good this year...

Ya, I don't think i will be fishing with my new phone, even though I bought the insurance. I would rather buy a back-up VHF I think? But I might have to check those life jackets out someday.
Best wishes for 2013 !

I use my phone more for GPS purposes. I wanna get one of those VHF radios. been keeping an eye at the classifieds for someone to post one. Are they necessary if you have a 2-way radio? i have waterproof motorola that also has weather channels. I'll let you know how this life jacket thing works out. I'll make sure and test it out in the bath tub before I actually take it out.

Uni Butter! :smt005

Also some new water boots and paddling gloves.

And a chefs choice electric sharpener since I seem to be sharpening-challenged. :smt044

I wouldn't go out on the Ocean without a VHF radio ...Ever !  But if you are fishing lakes, I would think a cell phone might be better if you have good phone reception? I rarely fish fresh water ( on my to do list)
so maybe some other guys have a better Opinion about what is better on a lake or river. But hands down, to me a VHF is #1 on the Big Blue. Most of the time you will be able to reach a power boater on your VHF that can assist you in an Emergency a lot quicker than dialing 911 !!!
