The only bass I ever kept to eat, I filleted it then breaded it and fried it in EVOO.

DUUUUUUDE! that's a fatty.  I know there are a lot of folks that cringe at the thought of keeping a LMB, but not me.  That is what fish and game is for.  If the species is in trouble, I trust that regs will reflect.

I used to simply fry the fillets with a little flour, salt, and pepper.  MMMMM

It's a spot anyways, I'd keep a spot but never a lmb. Never tried one though.

Why "never" a LMB?  Isn't a spot just a sub-species of LMB?  Aren't spots a little more rare than regular LMB?  So why keep a spot before a lmb.  I don't want to jack the thread, but I have never understood why some people are so strict about NOT eating largemouth bass.  Don't get me wrong.  I completely respect others' opinions on the matter, I just don't get it.  LMB are so far from being endangered, why does it matter? Is it for trophy reasons?  If not, I just don't get it.  There are LMB everywhere.  What is the difference between LMB and catfish?

Sorry for the vent :smt002
