Count me in for MBF if I make it !  :smt001

Did I read Lake Chabot website wrong ? It states gates open at 6:30 am. Ben mentioned gates open at 6 am.

Alex
yeah I'm not sure now.  The ebparks website says it opens at 6 but the park concessionaire says 6:30.

inspections 6:30  Q:How does the lake look now... Going to be there sat for a bit. Worth bringing the kayak to fish? Muddy? Safe to go out? how early is someone there to do inspections?

Lake Chabot
Lake Chabot The lake is very full. It is also muddy. Fishing is slow right now. If you do decide to come inspections can be done starting at 6:30 am. Your boat has to be completely dry. You can call us at 510 247 2526 for more info.

So if it's raining a little bit make sure your anti rain force field screens are energized around your yak. Otherwise....  :smt003

If it's raining, its actually a good thing for the inspection.  That being said, it's highly unlikely it will rain in Castro valley the day of the event, which is worse since you won't get any break on a wet kayak.

http://www.ebparks.org/Page549.aspx

Wet Weather Protocol

Inspection stations will remain open regardless of weather conditions.  The only conditions under which an inspection station would close, is during weather that presents a serious risk of injury to the inspector, or if the governing water agency closes the body of water to launching.  In the case of a body of water being closed, watercraft inspectors shall remain on duty until the normal close of inspection station or all watercraft are off the water and banded.

Current Rainy Day Protocol Procedures

Rainy Day Inspection is to occur during the event of rain at the time of inspection.

Kayaks/Float Tubes/Inflatables/Paddleboards/etc.
The criteria the inspection staff will use in determining rain water versus possible mussel infested water will be the following and not limited to:

Failing criteria
   - Water in sealed storage hatches
   - Wet gear and accessories that are not exposed to the elements
   - Dirty water in the vessel

Nice. I've never seen that much water in the lake. I'll take the brown water over the green matcha lake any day, too. Hope it settles soonish.
