As a treat for me my wife put a fishing video on our NetFlix list.

Well it showed up yesterday and it turns out she ordered the "Fishing with John" series. I haven't laughed that hard in years. My stomach is still sore.

Basically this whack-job named John, who knows nothing of fishing, goes around the world fishing with celebrities like Dennis Hopper and Willam Defoe. Add some bizarre background music and a psychotic narrator and you get what is probably the best fishing video ever made. Rent it.

HI-LARRY-US! I saw them a few years ago. Its almost like a a bunch of drunk dudes found a video camera. I would love to hear the first call with the celeb.

Im between the laughter I must have said WTF about a dozen times.

Here is a little clip from YT....Try NOT to get that song stuck in your head the next time the bite is slow.

It's kind of like 'that 70's show' where the folks get kinda crazy and you keep seeing smoke wafting by from somewhere off camera.  All told it's painfully slow though, I guess party of the parody of it all but I went stir crazy watching it.

That was by far the weirdest fishing show I've ever seen. Tom Waits is an interesting guy.

The DVD is even weirder because you can turn on John's lunatic commentary.

I don't know what was more bizarre. Fishing for sharks with a slice of cheese and a pistol, or the bit where Dennis Hopper becomes hypnotized by a giant squid. It was like somebody had slipped me some drugs.
