There was some great info and photos on mounting transducer's. Now how about power source mounting and a good brand to buy. Please tell me you don't have to hump a car size 12 volt . :smt012

There are lots of brands that I've seen used, I myself use a power patrol 12v 7AH. Weighs about 3 lbs and I haven't seen much bigger ones used, but have seem some guys go as low as 3AH depending on how much juice their FF uses. The 12v 7AH runs my eagle cuda 360 with black and white screen for a good 30 hours. no matter what battery you use make sure it's sealed.

As far as mounting, I used a ziplock Tupperware fixed to the bottom,  inside the hull just back from the front hatch using Velcro strips. I Drilled a hole through the lid of the Tupperware and ran the wire through through it sealing with a rubber gromet and some goop.

Hope this helps,
Joe

A lot of us use a battery like that. They typically last 1-3 days OTW depending on your FF. Color or not etc. Secure it inside your kayak so it does not slide around and break your wires.

you will only need a car battery if you plan on attaching a trolling motor.otherwise any 12v sealed battery would be enough.some of the guys use the doubleA battery trays

I also have a 5ah battery that I use in one yak. I have it in a waterproof box like a Pelican box. The box at Walmart is a fraction of the cost and works great. In the camping section.

Get a 7.2ah sealed lead acid battery its 5 lbs but plenty of power for days on some FF er's. Just grease the terminals. Fugedabout all those little batteries and boxes. Fishbucket has some for free right now at various locations. PM him. If you buy one new they are around 22-25 bucks. Last a long , long time. A little trickle charger will keep them ready to go also when they are on the bench.

Some people (not me) are starting to use Li-Ion batteries, lightweight and hold more juice, pretty pricey I think.

I have the standard 12V 8ah AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) which most of the batteries mentiond are.  I think it weighs 7 pounds, heavy little sucker.
