I'm looking for some advice on boot/sock combos to wear with my 3mm wetsuit.  Also, should I try them on before buying or is buying online ok?  P

lease let me know your thoughts.

If I am not walking too far, I use neoprene booties which I bought from kayak fishing stuff. If I am hiking or climbing or boulder scrambling I use neoprene socks with Corkers wading boots which I bought at Sierra Trading Post. The wading boots are a little harder to swim in compared to the booties but I swam 20-30 yards in the surf to retrive my yak and it was fine. The sock and boot combo also keep you warmer and give you better traction and stability when launching from a tide pool/rock garden. I also prefer the boots in mud. Pretty much never use my booties anymore.

Would wading boots and neoprene booties be warm enough for the bay?

Either neoprene booties are fine on the bay as are boots but when I go fishing in really cold weather, the wading boots seem to keep me warmer.

I use neoprene booties almost exclusively. I found that some kayaks have smaller footwells and boots won't fit.

I have never had my feet cold and I hang my feet over whenever I am not moving.
Never been a problem yet. The ones with a thin bottom for walking works best for me.
