Hey guys,
Bloodbath here! Decided to take advantage of the break in the weather today and went spearfishing with friends Zo and Brian. Arrived in Monterey to clear skies and awesome water conditions. Visibility was about 15-20ft. Did not see too many fish swimming around but did manage to pluck 2 grassies and 2 greenlings for the evening's dinner.
Today was a groundbreaker for be because I was using my new speargun for the first time! A.B. Biller 48" pro w/2bands. I like it! Using a speargun forced me to think about selection of the fish I wanted to shoot. I did not want to re-load the speargun for small fish. Some perch get to live another day! You know what I mean. I usually use a hawaiian sling but, I can see advantages to both of them. I will use the speargun now for the chance of getting the bigger fish and so that it won't get away. I've lost quite a few big fish with the sling.
Overall a great day in the water with friends.
Later,
Joe

Right on, Joe - way to get out in the water.  The discipline of a speargun vs a sling is a good one to learn.  Have fun.   :smt001
