I am really interested in fishing Lake Mendo this year and need a little advice. How do you guys fish for the stripers there? Troll? Cast plugs? Is the season just getting started up there? How long does the fishing stay hot?
Also, are the bass there contaminated with mercury the way our SF Bay stripers are?
 Thanks,
 Andrew
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

I believe most of your questions can be answered by reading Sean's great article - http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/content/view/20/42/

and I don't not believe the Mendo Stripers have any mercury in them.

Fishing is usually on until Thanksgiving, but it really depends on when the rains get heavy enough to get the lake dirty.  However it can get seriously COLD up here in mid October and later.  Me and Jelly always fish Mendo on Thanksgiving, and its always super chilly.  IMHO this is the best time of year.  The weather is still pretty nice and the fishing is good, and the lake is way less crowded.

All fish have mercury, its just the way it is, but the Mendo Stripers are very clean and just fine for eating, nothing like the fish in the bay.
