Net question

Does DFG have a landing net requirement for ocean fishing from a kayak?
Also, do they require emergency flares? or will a whistle and mirror suffice?
I do have a VHF radio.

I think all that is required by the Coast Guard is a PFD and a Sounding Device(whistle or horn) You only have to carry flares after dark, but I carry them all the time. If your boat is over 16' the regs are different

Check the regs to be sure but I think there is a rule that you need a net if fishing from a boat and the kayak fits the bill of a floating platform "boat" and the net needs to be 18" dia. min
