Sunday afternoon HOLY TOLEDO and I headed up to the Don Clausen Hatchery to check out the hatchery and fish ladder. Driving past Memorial Beach in Healdsburg the river was finally flowing (bank to bank).....NICE! We self toured the hatchery and the smolt pens including spending a few quarters on fish food to feed the young'ns. Most of our time there was spent in the pouring rain viewing the fish ladder and the small stream above the ladder. The stream is teaming with steel head and we attempted to video the fish jumping the ladder....they know when the camera is on...very camera shy!
While the recent rains have blown out the river fishing wise....it's great to see the water is finally here for the fish!  If your in the area this is a GREAT way to spend a few hours.

It's nice to see those Steelies made it past the fur bags and other obstacles (low water, fishermen) in their path. With the recent rain I would imagine there will be plenty more. Hopefully.
The fishing was so good I thought I was there yesterday!

Here is a couple of shots of the River today in the second shot about 3/4 of the way across that line is the fish ladder.

Sorry to hear your guy's run is so low this year. Hopefully this rain will put a big dent in it. Anyone thinking about the Trinity or the Feather?
