Thought I would move it over here.
Ive only missed the past two years since I first went in 1998, its the best fun Ive ever had. You can make it whatever you want-you dont have to drink/drugs/sex to have a great time, but you will see the wildest shit on earth period. Thats where I met Anita.
Jdyak went for the first time last year, he hung out with my "group" at 3:00 and the outside, by the airport. Maybe he could chime in?

Well, I'm!  I ordered my ticket as a x-mas present for myself.  Never been, and haven't been able to convince anyone this early in the year to go with me yet.  But it would be cool to apply for a theme camp, and represent the kayak lovers in the desert.

Wonder if I can make my Hobie into a bicycle or something...

From a first time perspective, BM is alot of fun.  Seeing thunderdome reenacted at night was incredible, with everyone on top of the cage shouting.  The place is huge, 7 square miles,  best time to explore is early in the morning till 11 or 12 if it's hot( which was most of the time, or after 6 high mountain desert, so it will cool down) It is like no place you can imagine, and all I can say is that if you have any interest, go.  I found the BM people to be friendly, open and wanting to connect with other people.

I plan on attending again this year.

No wind powered vehicles allowed since there was one of those super-slick wind racers about 10 years ago and hit a tent with 2 people inside. I think it was a fatal accident, one of the very few deaths at BM, a very good record for a city of 40,000.
There are some rules, if anyone is serious, look up burningman.com and check out the survival guide. Bring all your own stuff and bring ALL your trash out, no dumpsters. You can buy ice and coffee, nothing else, but you wont need money for anything else, camps/bars/clubs are all free with open bars. There are free plane rides, skydiving, a million massage camps of all leanings, and maybe Camp NCKA.
