Arrived a little later that expected and launched around 10am. The water was like glass and all of the boats were anchored in one area near the front of the boat ramp. I trolled through and was hit once and saw one being caught. It was probably about 2-3lbs. I fished that spot for about 30 minutes and then took off for the narrows. No luck on the troll in that spot either. I traded the trout gear for the bass rod and gave that a shot. Nothing!  :smt012

To make a long story short, I got skunked but still had a great time. It has been about 3 months since my last yak trip and I was jazzed to get back on the water. I had a smile on my face all day even though the fish were not cooperating.

If you are going to fish Del Valle please be aware that your boat will need to be pretty damn spotless. Make sure that you boat is bone dry as well as your gear or you will not get in.

Good to see you back Russ!
I wouldn't go so far as to call a lingcod filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a lingcod's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

you should use that avet on some of those 2lb stocker trout...

i was at del valle for a short paddle today and the boat inspectors didn't give me any trouble.  they just ran their fingers over my boat and found it was dry.  it think ymmv depending on the inspector.  of course they had nothing to worry about since that boat had not been out in over a month.
