So this morning I took my karate club down to Santa Cruz for our annual winter training, which invariably gives us nicer weather than we ever had when we did summer beach workouts.  Anyway, we did two hours of solid training, and the whole time as I'm watching my students do potentially dangerous things to each other, the main thought in my mind is...

"Dang, it's soooo flat out there! I wanna go fishing!  :smt010 "

Now I see. You guys are doing an attack line. We never went to the beach. That looks like fun on a nice sandy beach on a nice sunny day. Awesome. Sensei had 60 acres up by willits for us to play on. Doing night op's and all day everything from tai chi to grappling to kendo and a bunch of kickboxing and of course karate. Those were the days.

Yep...two-line drill with the defender in the middle, first attacker moves in with any motion technique (kick/punch/etc) and second attacker goes in immediately with a grabbing technique.  We only do the beach training once a year now so they're not used to the sand, and their technique degrades pretty quickly.  :smt002  It was fun though, and I got several of them all stoked for our summer gasshuku training this July at Bear River Reservoir.  :smt004  Where I will be bringing my yak in hopes of trout, btw.  :smt003
