This is the view of the local ocean conditions here in Oregon.   Light winds and 3 ft waves.  Just about perfect and very rare this time of year.

Here's the kicker.. lingcod and rockfish are open year round in Oregon.

So I post a hookup on NWKA (Northwest Kayak Anglers, a NCKA sister site I help run).  We have over 400 members now and I think they're all hibernating for the winter because no one responded that they could go. I have a deal with my wife about not going out on the ocean by myself.  So here I am at work on my lunch hour...  :smt011 when I should be catching lingcod on the coast.

Such as sad predicament... the weather is so nice out there and most people are stuck at work.

I really like that picture, including the slight blurriness.  If it weren't for the cars and the pavement you can see in it I would like to have that hung here in my office.

I just noticed also that if you crop the picture right above the building it's actually a bit nicer to look at. Makes it look more panoramic and gives a sense of peaceful loneliness.

You need to undo that done deal about not going out alone It's nothing but another superstition

You sure that's the Oregon coast? I've never seen it look like that

Brian.....that's absolutely Home Stomping Ground for me.
Pacific City.......I know the building from which your photo was taken.

Yu'know, with respect to PACIFIC CITY you should re-negotiate your "solo ocean launch" agreement with your wife.    Launch & Landing up there in the corner-of-the-point....??....it's a piece-of-cake even when the breaker-line everywhere south is not.

Are you WORKING....???...in Pacific City?
Very nice little corner of the world, when it's not smelling TOTALLY like dairy.

You read my post on the NW Board about Towne Lake...???....
Last Sept. I pulled two v. nice 3-pound rainbows out of there.
It's a pretty little setting for a kayaker.

What do you know about the efficacy of throwing spoons for Cutthroat Trout down near the river-mouth..??..     I was considering whether to do this last Sept., but never got around to trying.  The locals were all throwing spoons for Fall Run Chinook last Sept, but I didn't have a salmon tag.

There's a guy who lands a biplane at the airport....gives people rides for $60.00.   Brian....it's WORTH it.   If your wife is with you, you HAVE to take her on that ride.

Oh if only I were there........
Oh if only I could go out with you....
Fishing on the direct opposite side of the rock is pretty good.

Up-coast a short paddle-distance.....there's a long "slit" in the rock-behind-the-big-sand-dune. It opens to the ocean.  You can paddle entirely up that slit (which is an amazingly-long corridor, maybe 7-800-feet) at a lower tide and land your boat on the sand ---it's widly dramatic, being the sole person there, down at the bottom of those high high perfectly vertical yellow/orange sandstone walls standing on that tiny perishable wedge of sand.

I think at THIS time of year (the Muirs being gone) it's legal to paddle entirely within the rock boundaries of the "cape".....up at the lighthouse.

Hey, I'm confused...
I thought you left Seattle for HERE...
Whatchu doing in Pacific City?

I would love to come up and get Jiggy with you, but.......it's a long drive and it will start to blow as soon as I get in the area. :smt011
Get out and don't tell the wife you're GOING SOLO!, but leave her a float -plan behind......"the guy didn't show up and the water was like a lake!"

Actually I would seriously consider a drive to Brookings, that's more like 7h. I really, really miss rockfishing.
