Served in USN for six years total on board the El Paso LKA-117  based in Norfolk, Virginia and various land based hospitals as a corpsman.

At that time, I used to often wonder if people at home even appreciated all the long hours of hard work and sacrifices we were doing while running countless drills with our USMC brothers despite storm or calm weather. It felt good to be appreciated.

Many thanks to our fighting troops and to all who have served.

Frank

I wouldn't go so far as to call a lingcod filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a lingcod's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I was in the Navy for 6 years, hence the name Xsquid (squid is Marine jargon for sailor).  I went to electronics school for 2 years then went to sea duty on USS Boone, a guided missile frigate out of Jacksonville, FL.  My job as a fire controlman was to maintain and operate the guided missile control system.  I was fortunate enough to serve during the Clinton years, so I wasn't involved in any major conflicts.  We did alot of counter drug ops off of Columbia and boarded vessels in the Red Sea relating to santions on Iraq.  I saw alot of crazy stuff overseas and made some great friends, I'd do it all over again if I had to.  Much thanks to all the active duty members, this country wouldn't make it without you.

US Army, 3 years, 1985-1987, MOS=16S, spent pretty much my whole enlistment in W. Germany, except for a 4 month stint on the island of Crete.

I joined when I was 16 years old (long story), out when I was 19.

My kid brother has 21 years in Army aviation, CW-5, flies the Mh-47 for the 160th SOAR.  He's my hero and a bad-MF'er.

I had a former Nightstalker as an Instructor when I went to Fort Rucker for Warrant Officer Canidate School.  I don't fly, but that is tough aviation unit!  My hat is off to the 160th!

When were you there?  My brother did about 5 years there as a CH/MH-47 instructor before he joined the 160th.  He's been with the 160th since about 1997-98.
