Timojam - Funny thing is it is my middle finger....I got the tip with the point. slid in and poked out the other side. Scared the hell out of me and the odd thing was it didn't hurt AT ALL. I prob should have made a trip to the doc to see if it needed a stitch or two. Oh well, seems to be ok and healing. Good thing the knife was nice and sharp, very clean slice and chicks dig scars!

Splashdown - I actually got chased of the perc ponds a few months ago. I was testing out my new fish finder on a nice weekend morning. After heading back home twice! (forgot the paddle and nightcrawlers) I made a few drifts caught a bluegill and was then called to the bank by the ranger who proceeded to tell me to get off the lake NOW. No boats allowed due to the zebra/quag. mussel issue. She asked me if I saw the sign? When I hauled out I did happen to see a sign laying face down covered with leaves. Gee how could I miss that! I haven't been back to see if the ban is lifted.

The ranger was actually nice to say the 2nd lake/pond has better fishing (less angler pressure). But it's tiny. The third one looks very bass friendly.

Here is a Google Maps link....Top to bottom (main lake, better per ranger, bass city?)

Most folks I know use plastics from shore to catch bass out of the ponds. The larger one may not have very many, but I have heard through the grapevine of a big one pulled out of threre a few years back.

Like I said, I prefer Calero. I usually get there early and am of before the wind makes it difficult to paddle/peddle around. Last year I hit it three times and got over 20 bass and a few large crappie, trolling live jumbo minnows behnd the kayak. Hopefully 09 brings me another personal best and hopefully it will be a double digit bass.I may have to work hard for it and may have to hit Clear Lake or the delta more to get one.
