Stayed with my mother in-law for the week of X-Mas; who lives in Splading. My son and I fished four days, one of them for only an hour. The first day we fished in the two seater and caught four trout, released three. Actually the three I released were because I fumbled with them at the side of the boat; forgot the net! The one we got in the boat was 3.1 lbs; a nice buck. The second trip out my son stayed on the bank and I went out in the P15. I hooked 8 fish, losr four, released 2 and kept two; a 3+ lber and a 14incher. Third trip we both fished on the bank; casting jigs with a bobber. We caught 4, released 3 (one of which was a 3+ lb buck) and kept one 3+ lb hen(they have the red meat). Last trip we only had an hour to fish and came home empy handed. Everyday we fished it snowed and never got over 32 (the whole trip). Yes we froze our butts off! I only had a throw away camera, so the pics will come later. Ended up buying a kit to tye my own jigs(same as flys). Will be trying them out at Chabot and Del Valle. We planned on ice fishing, but the locals were sitting out there for a few hours for one or none. Plus its really hard to yak on the ice!

Sounds like you and your son had a great time of fishing together, those memories will last you both a life time.
I love eagle just don't like the cold, plan on fishing it in June or July when it is warm and the fish are deep.
Great report and looking forward to your pictures as I sit here by the fire in the wilderness.

Nice, sounds like you guys had that place figured out.  I have never tried the bobber/jig combo for trout but have heard of many having success with it.  Do you use a crappie jig and slip bobber with stops??

I use a foam bobber with the ends that lock like the old fashion plastic ones( non sliding). You need a long rod, cause the leader will be long; ours was about 7 feet.
