I've been paddling my p13 for the last 4 months & I love it (Sierra lakes).  Now that it's cold & I'm home it's time to add on the goodies, but I've got lots of questions..  Any answers or ideas would be welcomed..

I want to add a Humminbird FF.  The transducer scupper is located in the rear tank well.  How do I route the cables to the front?  I don't want too many holes..  My Big Game had the transducer in the right foot well scupper which I expected the P13 to have..

How would you add a milk create with the transducer in the tank well?

The center hatch has a solid bucket inside it.  I'd prefere a hatch bag too thus have access to the inside of the hull.  Do I need to replace the hatch?

It appears the rear side of tank well will take a 4" hatch.  Any experience with this location or idea?

I want to add a rudder and haveread many comments on the OK rudder versus others although the rudder on the Big Game is just fine..  Any thoughts?

I'd be interested in a OK dealer in the Northbay that does this kind of work.  Or any reputable kayker that would be interested.

Hi John - I have a prowler as well and I will try to post some pics of how I rigged up my boat and fish finder tomorrow. I basically copied FisHunters FF install put had to make some adjustments due to the rudder controls.

I just remembered that my camera is broken so here is a link to Fishunters install

As for storage, I used the plano box and rod holder that you can get at West Marine. It fits very nicely in the back and leaves plenty of room for other goodies in the back.

You may be able to find more pictures of the plano box by doing a search.

Yes, I've seen that idea in the forum..  It's using a Eagle FF..  I'm thinking I'll go with Humminbird, but I don't like the idea of running the transduces cables from the rear tankwell into the hull & back out of the hull to the FF unit..  The transducer being in the rear of the hull is nice on the beach but the extra holes in the hull & inability too use a milk crate aren't worth the trade off..

John:

I think having the tran in the back is great, as it preserves better drainage in the cockpit.  I offer full rigging services, if you are interested, please send me a PM.

See this thread for an example of how I rig my own boats... http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php/topic,12918.0.html

John:

I totally agree with Sean.  Use the provided scalloped scupper for your TD.  It is out of the way, yet still in the water so you get instant temps, but don't cathc it on kelp or while launching/landing.

Really, the cable can be kept out of the way in your TW.  You would not have to worry about any leakage etc if you do SBD style, or even easier, and more sure thing, bring it over and have him do it for you.

Sean is the rigging master.

John,

I installed a 4 inch hatch in the back of my P-13.  I actually was considering using the hatch as access to back for the transducer mount, right now the transducer is stuck down with goop under the front hatch, I did not use the scupper hole in the back.  So far this is working for me.

Installed a scotty mount in the front and am currently using the scotty triple for FF and 2 rod holders.  I used a backing plate inside the hull for additional support.  I am still trying to get used to the triple.

In the back I use a milkcrate with additional rod holders and cooler.

Thanks

Thanks for the rear hatch thoughts & picture..  I do plan to contact "lingzilla" about his FF setup & rudder help after the first of the year..  Probably the rear hatch also..  Have you had any h2o seepage from this rear hatch?

John, no seepage at the rear hatch, just use the inside rim as a template, cut carefully, and goop all around.  Post some pics of your P-13 after you are done, always interested in seeing more rigging ideas.
