Anyone up for sand dabs out of Monterey or Santa Cruz this weekend?  Was thinking San Carlos Beach, CRSB or NBSB.  Probably not enough motivation to charge it alone, more likely to get out into the cold salt if others interested.

BTW, I take no credit for the above haul, poached that pic from a report out of moss from early this year.

I was just this morning thinking of when to go dabbin'. I'd like to go but can't get away this weekend. Maybe sometime soon though. That plate of dabs is from one of my reports last year. They were delicious.

I meant to say "pooched".   :smt044

Maybe after the new year we can get out together and manage another plate like that.

Yakuyza:

Latest I heard were the dabs are kind hard to find out of SC.  Moss or Monterey a better bet, I think.

BTW, a skiff fisherman caught a 47-lb WSB off South rock last Friday, before the storm moved in.  Live mackerel.  He hooked another that broke him off.  Check the Fish Rap via LJKF (kayak4fish.com)

Good luck!!

I don't know if this is any help but we saw Dolphins hunting in the first Surf Line just next to the Santa Cruz Harbor today.  They were definitely catching something (maybe Dabs of Perch) no more than 50 to 100 feet off the Beach.
