Thought I was fishing Cache SLough but its actually Shag SLough according to the bridge sign. No stripers to be had today, water was a little murkier today than Thurs maybe from the rain, but in any case the fish did not seem to be around. Talked to two folks who said they hooked two stripers in the morning, but that's all I saw. Sturgeon were on the surface with bank anglers hooking up, but the few I saw didn't look like they were in the keeper range. R

For years I've heard sturgeon reports from Cache slough, some big ones I guess there's something to it, since you're now (somewhat) familiar with the area, do you think there's access to Cache slough?

Wow - a kayak fishing report!  Way to get out there, Diroblo.  Bring home some images and you could wrap up post of the week.   :smt002  Thanks for the report.  I need some water time real bad, but it's gonna be a while!   :smt001

Being an honorable sportsman is way more important than what you catch.

Cache Slough is easily reached from Rio Vista , go north on the west side of the Sacramento River for a couple of miles on River Rd . There are plenty of pull outs near the Ryer island Ferry where you can launch your kayaks from , a safer area to leave your vehicles than out off of Liberty Is.Rd.  Cache Sl. starts just north of where the Sacto turns and heads towards Isleton

That is the part of Cache Sl. that the sturgeon are caught from, there up to a little ways past Shag Sl. / Liberty island / Hastings Is . Shag Sl. has some stripers but is mainly a catfishing area . Been a long time since I fished that area , don't remember the specific channel marker numbers that were  best , but for sturgeon stay in the channel / deepest water you can find .

Zoom in on the map between Rio Vista  and Hastings Is . , the map did not copy in the zoomed position I  wanted it to .
