I'll be fishing this Saturday at Del Valle hoping for some trout action. It is supposed to start raining which has always been the mojo for a great day of trout fishing for me at Del Valle. Last time I was there in the rain the bite was off the hook and the striper were boiling. Probably no striper this weekend, but the trout should be good.

I won't be arriving until about 9:00 am so I'll give a call on the radio in case others are there earlier. My wife wants to sleep in, but she hasn't had her yak on the water since BAM, so we had to "negotiate" a wake up time for Saturday  :smt075  :smt005

I won't need that pole for this trip. It's a little too stiff for trout fishing for me. I don't think I'll be using that one again until I start looking for bass in the delta in March/April. So, no worries, I'm sure we'll be crossing paths for a sturgeon or trout trip before then. Sorry there was no smallie love with it though.   :smt009

For mussel inspections at Del Valle you have to make sure your boat is clean inside and out, and dry inside and out. When it is raining, as long as your boat is clean and dry inside, and clean outside, they won't hassle you for having a wet hull due to rain. I've launched there in the rain twice already this year and had no problems. I just wipe down the inside of my boat before I load it and I take a stiff bristle brush to the outside.

My wife got a call from her girlfriends and she has decided to go out for lunch with them instead of fishing, so I'll be headed out to Del Valle first thing tomorrow morning  :smt003

I know that most folks will be headed to Melones, but if you're up for a local trout trip, give me a holler on 69 or meet me at the launch  :smt006

Hey Jay, I'm trying to find a way to make it to DV tomorrow.  If I do make it, will likely be there at 7AM, launching from the beach/swim area.

Hey Jay -  I'll be bringing a friend of mine tomorrow with me.  Probably gonna launch at the ramp now, since were taking two yak's on one car.  Likely have to pull his down for inspection and might as well just carry it down to the water after that.

Weeeeeee!  See you tomorrow!
