Frustrated with the coastal weather reports and needing to work off some turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, fudge, etc, etc I headed to Quarry Lakes Friday.  Had a couple hits on the shad rap, and only one stuck on Friday.  Small catfish.  Had another hit right after that and whatever it was jumped and came unstuck before I could get my pole in hand.

On my way back to the ramp about sunset I trolled near shore and saw a huge pile of trash someone left on shore, and a gatorade bottle in the water.  I swung by and grabbed the gatorade bottle but as I paddled away it popped out of the boat on it's own!  Hmmm....  swing back around and grab it again and I notice there's a line tied to it.  Pull in the line and attached is a lethargic, but quite healthy 3-4lb rainbow trout...  hooked thru his dorsal fin via a baitholder hook!  I guess someone forgot their stringer and improvised but he got away from em?  No pics because it was a mess dealing with that line, plus the other line with a treble hook in his mouth...  but the fish was released.  The things people do...

Sat went out again because my mom wanted to try the Scupper Pro.  It fit her perfectly, and after some instruction she was off and paddling around the whole lake, with better technique than me.  I tried it too and although it's small for me that's a great little boat!  Very fast.

Sat I only got one fish...  a little bass.  But two days of paddling and no skunk in great weather+family=good times even if it is a lil mudhole.

Oh I'm alreadly planning to get her hooked up.

Funny thing, though, when I picked up a couple extra kayaks I was thinking of my bother, my pop, and all my old fishing friends...  I never though my mom would be the one getting out on the water!

Thanks for the report and picture Eric. That is so cool your mom wanted to try
kayaking. I can't even make my mom look at my kayak let alone get on one. She
is against me going out on a kayak anywhere.

At least someone got out OTW this weekend!

Eric, I can tell how long it's been since I've fished with you by the length of your beard!

WTG on getting out there with your mom, and even catching a couple fish!
