Any good suggestions on rod holder locations for the T13. Looking to mount some for trolling so I don't have to keep looking over my shoulde. I tried turning my rod pod cover around, setting a scotty triple holder on a post mounted to a 3 1/2 inch threaded  PVC end cap. Fit pretty well, but it was still a little too close for my paddle stroke. I tried next to the sonar shield but thats a far reach.

I found this to work best for trolling,
Scotty flush mount's replace the standard rod holders, easy to grab, behind my paddle stroke, makes for a wider trolling path.

Pat,
This is now how I've done all my Kayaks. Just remember to use stainless fender washers below deck for extra support, actually is more solid than the factory jobs.

Thanks Eric, I would guess that you don't have any problem with the over size hole from the original rod holder you removed. Just center it up and use big washers, also I would guess that there is no problem reaching the back thought the rod pod as long as you got long arms.

Thanks Eric! Thanks Pat R!

Eric, can you still see the rod tips when you are paddling without looking behind you?

Thanks for the report and pics Eric, very timely. I've been considering mounting two of the Scotty rectangular flush mounts in the same general area on my P-15 that has has two of the stock rod holders in place. I plan to use the new flush mounts for rod holders to extend the rods more horizontally out to the sides only for freshwater trolling (will use the stock holders for saltwater, bigger fish trolling).  I don't have access to install backing plates.  I think the flush mounts should be plenty strong enough for freshwater use (trout, bass) without too much concern for cracking the hull (drag will release before any structural damage occurs).

Any concerns, thoughts, lessons from you or others?
