On the lake at dawn, very foggy, cool, and a little breeze from the south. No striper sign so I rig up a dropshot rod. Fun! Lots of hits, lots of little bass off of points and rockwalls. Around ten the fog burns off and I'm getting ready to tool towards the ramp when I hear them...
It was a piscatorial melee. Fish hit the bottom of my 'yak, splashed me, and scared me. I didn't even see my plug get hit. It was as if I threw it into a hole comprised of striper maws. There was an actual roar caused by the thrashing of the water.
I had to stop using topwater cuz the birds kept grabbing my plug. Some of you out there know how when a boat takes off, other boats look its' way, knowing it's headed towards a bust. Today, I'd be sitting, and waiting with the birds, and when the birds all took off in one direction it would signal the direction of a bust. Just me and the birds.
I hooked some fish between busts using a Zoom Fluke rigged dropshot. Works great, just drop it to where you see them on the finder.
They busted on and off till noon.
Might fish Clear Lake tonight. Was out 2 days ago in a pb and got many fish on a black 10" worm. I broke a big one off.
Ahh, so many fish...

Mako1 - Had the same event happen to me on the lower SF Bay.  Scared the crap out of me, as I had stopped to rest for a minute.  The 20' boil was so loud to the ear. My first thought was that I  had Kayaked onto a storm sewer or something.  My plug resting in the water inches from my kayak got smacked - - - after lunging for my fleeting rod, I was able to land a really nice fish.  An event I will remember for a long time.

Sounds like great fun!

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.
