Very cool ending...although someone should take the dumbass who left Jake sitting in that dinghy and drop HIM a mile offshore and make him try to swim to safety.  Maybe blindfold him too, so he's as disoriented as the poor pup was.  :smt013

Thats the second story I've seen about the English and their lost dogs a mile out to sea . The other one was a  terrier , older dog in its teens that got away from its elderly owner in the fog , got headed in the wrong direction in heavy fog  and ended up a mile off shore , funny thing was the dog hated water other than to drink ! Not sure if it's a case of dumb Englishmen or their  dumb dogs , probably a bit of both !

OXYMORON
n.   pl. ox·y·mo·ra (-môr'ə, -mōr'ə) or ox·y·mo·rons
A rhetorical figure in which incongruous or contradictory terms are combined, as in a deafening silence or dumb Englishmen.

:smt044 :smt044 :smt044 :smt044 :smt044. Well said Phil.. When calling a whole nation (our strongest ally) "dumb" one should be sure of ones facts as not to look dumb yourself... the fact is Harkers Is, Cape Lookout and Emerald isle are all in N carolina. The term "false Albacore" should have been a give away, but even if you werent sure of the geography or species, its kinda hard to miss this sentance from the article.."A VHF radio call to the U.S. Coast Guard was fruitless, and only one boat responded, to the negative."
So to me it seems it was some dumb and smart Americans in the article I posted. No need to diss our "stiff upper lip, bangers n mash eating, tea drinking, redcoat" bretheren :smt005 .....
