Met up with Hobieblue on Saturday for some striper fishing.  We launched at 6:00 into a thick fog.  Visibility was probably 20' or less, so we stuck to the shallows and tules throwing topwater.  As I headed to a close by area I thought would produce, I heard Bryan in the distance having a blast.  He found some willing victims and was rewarded with a 27" striper on the top, the biggest fish of the day.  Unfortunately his camera died after the first pic, so pic 1 is the only shot of that fish.  Eventually we managed to link up and continued throwing topwater for about 2 hours until the fog lifted.  I managed to scratch up a dink then a 25"er on a spook.  After the fog lifted we trolled up a couple fish and then passed Mr. Sea Lion in the slough.  Needless to say, the bite wasn't that great afterwards, we ended the day with 4 or so apiece.  All in all, it was fun fishing on what turned out to be a nice day.

Definitely a fun-filled day.  We had to fight the tides and current in both directions which made it seem twice as long, but we actually traveled an average distance for us.  My legs (and arms) were wiped out.  It was worth it checking out some new water though.

It's always a blast getting into a school of stripers chasing topwater.  They were batting my spook around a couple times, until I finally picked off a shortie about 17 inches.  The very next cast after that, they were all over it again...my plug got knocked about 4 or 5 times before I hooked the bigger one.  As you can see in the pic, he inhaled the entire 6 inch spook.  Figures I get another descent striper and have picture problems again.

Kevin's big fish hit his spook about 8 feet off his bow.  It gave him about a 40 foot tow job through the fog.  Sure was fun to watch Kevin play and land that fish.

Thanks again Kevin for the great trip and report, we'll get into them better next time.

Looks like I'm gonna have to learn something about throwing plugs one of these days, 25-27 inches sound like a blast,

Thanks for the report

Damn!  I was going to get out there with ya, but thought the nice sunny weather would ward off the bite.  Next time....

Regarding sea lions, I was trolling off of Brandon Island and watched a sea lion devour an 8-10 pound striper.  About 30 minutes later the lion was gone.  I trolled his spot and picked a 5+ pounder.
