I must agree the large reds have plenty of meat. It just takes a little time as they have tough shells. I think they make better crab cakes than any other. The dungies get eaten chilled. Just two questions though on the day. How deep of water and how long of a soak before the pull. It looks like an overnight haul to me.

Those are some interesting traps. I haven't seen those before.We set some pots also but from a boat up by the Russian and the ones that did best had lingcod carcasses. Congrats on the haul. Thats a lot of cookin'.
Thanks.  My wife and I and her family got our fill of crab for sure.  The traps we used are Promar TR-102 Collapsible Traps.  I know the Coastside #2 Bait & Tackle Shop in Pacifica sells them and I believe you can also get them at Hi's Tackle (SF) and Fisherman's Warehouse (SJ).

Just two questions though on the day. How deep of water and how long of a soak before the pull. It looks like an overnight haul to me.
Soaked for 3 hours in 50 to 60 feet.
