All,

Heading down south over the thanksgiving week....We'll be staying here.

I was planning on a few days of solo 'yak fishing. Anyone have any advice or locals that may be able to give the low down? I promise to post the event with Pics/Video!

I lived in Ventura for a few years, and fished there just a bit...in my kayak fishing infancy. I never fared very well fishing close to the harbor. My one tip for you would be to check out the "oil piers" North of town. These are just what they sound like, piers which link to a man made sort of Island where tankers transfer their oil. They're maybe twenty minutes North of town, travel Highway 1 and you can't miss them. I've caught halibut there, and also sometimes WSB school up there, not giants, but smaller schoolies. I've caught BSB there as well, but catch and release, of course.

Can't guarantee the fishing there, skunk is possible, but the water is nice anyways!

Best wishes,

Paul
Always willing to join others in the Monterey/Santa Cruz/Half Moon Bay area for a bit of fishing...feel free to contact me.
