A little bit of a Ho Hum day.  Little wind chops but manageable.
I fished with my buddies and had company with Naoaki, kayakjack, Inseine, NorthernBoy and betterhalf.  Pulled in 5 good size blacks and I believe my buddies pulled some gophers and a red.  We left at 11 to try our hand at dungees at doran.  I think Naoaki and company found the spots where the reds are as we were leaving.  camera is acting Up so excuse the shots.

I don't have any!

My excuse; the fishing was crap.

One of those days for me yesterday. I had to use backup gear after snapping my jigging rod last week. First fish on............poink...........There's a crack in the ceramic guide at the rod tip.  :smt011. No problem, I'll use the backup backup.  Second fish; reel seizes.  :smt011 :smt011. I can't unscrew the reel from backup rod one to put onto backup rod two. So it's the long paddle back in and walk up the hill for the emergency spinning gear. I have never fished for rockfish with an 8'6" ft steelhead rod and spinning reel. I won't do it again either, what a pain in the arse.  :smt011 :smt011 :smt011

I caught lots of fish, mostly small blacks and blues. Nothing of size. I did catch a red...... but it was ~ 8 inches. I set the crab gear out deeper this time and over sand. I caught loads and loads of dungies but they were all babies.

It was cold, and the wind didn't let up until ~2pm.

Still beats a day at work tho'!

(can someone explain to this alien what doubleday means?)

It's just another freakishly nutty musing from the mind of Abking!   :smt003

With this serious adrenaline addiction, I'm now thinking of how to pull off a TripleDay...   :smt002

Somehow that has been my MO.  Fish early enough and leave by 12 to get at least an hour at doran.  lot of work double loading and unloading of the yak but the tummy likes it at the end of the day. :smt003
I don't know how Naoaki does it but he mentioned catching stripers in  the delta as well.  the guy puts in a lot of kayak mileage... :smt001

Yes the fishing was pretty slow at the fort.  Not really sure why.  Water was not too cold.  I did manage 1 red at 21.5 inches, a upgrade on the AOTY, but I still dropped a position.   :smt010
