alright i have more time now.this is the cioastside post from my friend mitch.

Chris "Kingfish" kayak and I fished out of Pittsburg today. Finished the day landing 5 sturgeon, and one barely legal striper (striper was killed, as it was gut hooked). At least one, probably two of the sturgeon were in the slot, 2 shakers & one diaper dino. The key today was eel, and the deepest water we could find.

The striper took a mud sucker in 5' of water in Sherman Lake (Chris caught our live bait!), but the sturgeon voted NO on ghost shrimp, and a big YES on eel (both BS Bait at McAvoy's and Dockside Market at the Pittsburg ramp have eel for $12).

All of the sturgeon were caught in ~70', just on the Chain Island side of light 33, maybe 200 yards from it. The sturgeon were absolutely stacked up in there, probably the most I've ever seen on the graph. Also tried the PG&E area on some decent marks.

The tides today were totally pathetic, and the wind had total control over where the boat went. It was almost like fishing in a slack tide condition all day. It was a hassle to keep the lines out of the prop and taught enough to see any bites. I was surprised we did so well given the weak tides.

Chris has become quite an expert now at detecting the soft sturgy bites. And I guess for his deep appreciation for "DieHard's" great efforts, he had only brought coffee grinders today!

Graph shot below was 200 yards E/NE of Buoy 33 in 72'

Way to bring'em to the boat Chris. For being such an ugly fish... that diaper dino is pretty cute looking.
