Alright, I need some help, I am sure all you salty dogs have a unique experience in mind from your kayak, fresh or salt water. Everything but rockfish and lings are unique to me.  Any ideas, I am up for anything from crazy to sane, would just want company from my fellow NCKA guys and gals. Hopefully not to costly, as I am married! I know all you with wives and families know what I am talking about. Joe

Skyboy I was thinking the same thing then I read someones post on camping. That's my next thing. Find a lake with boat-in or kayak-in (preferably) sites to carry all my camp gear and fishing gear and camp and fish. Like a mini survivor.... :smt001

And it seems safe and sane. I'm not insane yet, not yet.

How about paddling from, say aquatic park, and going all the way up to sacto?  I would like to do that trip by paddle, fishing all along the way.  Maybe it could be a fund raiser for SF Bay and Delta fishing awareness.  Or maybe just an opportunity to find out how f'ing tough you are while having an opportunity to fish multiple aquatic environs during the journey.

yakuza, I would be up for that, How far of a paddle do you think that is? What would be the target fish? I have never fished the delta.

Boat-in camping in Tomales is the way to go. Some friends and I did that last year. Bob took the majority of the stuff over in his 12' aluminum and three of us paddled across in our yaks.

The plan was to fish from shore all night, but we didn't do our homework and there ended up being a minus tide that night. Unfortunately we were able to cast to good water, but bringin' big rays and sharks in through 50 yards of mud was impossible.

We ended up fishing from the yaks the next morning and I got towed all over the place by a large ray. THE funnest time I've had on my kayak to date.

The whole west side of Tomales, north of Indian Beach (directly across from Marshall) is available for boat-in camping - and we had a whole beach to ourselves.

In Loving Memory of Mooch, Eelmaster, Shicken, and Cabeza De Martillo

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

It only cost me about $1500 total (airfare/kayak rental/food/fishing license) to do a 2 week long sea kayaking trip out of SE Alaska. Fishing for Silvers, not getting eaten by bears, learning just how miserable continuous drizzle can be after a week. Some of the most beautiful scenery on the planet. Highly recommended.

I keep threatening to take my wife up there and somewhat duplicate the trip, but with a mothership and really utilizing the Forest Service cabins up there.

I've also thought of yakking down the Sac, from Redding down to Verona. Give me downstream over upstream any day...

Regards,
Scott

I use to live in Couerd' Alene, Idaho. The lake there Cd'A lake, has tons of pike and muskie, as do the many surrounding lakes. We use to kill them from shore. that would be alot of fun on a yak.

There are some boat in camping sites on Lake Sonoma.  I did this this spring and it was blast.

I also went car camping/kayak fishing in Baja for three weeks.  I think the three of us ended up splitting a total bill of about $1500.  Not exactly inexpensive, but if you have the time it's well worth every penny.
