If you have a portable fishfinder that you transfer across multiple kayaks or you are shy about drilling holes in your kayak (like me), here's a tip I found while I was surfing on the web:

http://www.ultimatekayakfishing.com/forums/Easy-Mount-hull-Transducer-t2763.html

The text is copied in case you can't open the link.

"If you're looking for a fairly solid but easily removable way to mount a thru-hull sonar transducer,..I've found that "plumbers putty" works very nicely! Just roll up a gumball-sized wad of it in the palm of your hands to warm it up and make it nice and soft,..then stick it to the bottom of your transducer and squish it into place against the inside of your kayak-hull. The putty, creates a nice air-free seal between the kayak-hull and the transducer. A strip or two of duct-tape over the top of the transducer holds it pretty firmly in place until you decide that it needs to come off. A little bit of water seems to be no problem but even in the worst case,..you might have to replace the duct tape every now and then!

The putty stays soft and removeable almost indefinitely and allows you to easily remove the transducer puck any time you need to!

The local hardware stores only carried plumber's putty that wasn't suitable for plastics so I used florist clay instead.  It was cheaper, waterproof, reusable, and worked great!  Make sure that you knead the air pockets out of the clay before you stick it onto the transducer.  Wrap the recycled clay in a square of plastic wrap and you're ready for next time!
