I made my 1st trip of the year to Amador and my 1st time with my kayak.
The launch area is horrible.  The water level is so low...
I found fish everywhere, but they are hitting real light.
The 1st 45 minutes or so, I probably got hit 9 or 10 times.
F-5 BBR in brook trout pattern, produced strikes, but no fish.
Switched again to a F-5 BBR in orange and white, and Bingo, fish in the net!
I got more strikes on that one too, and then I picked up the speed a little. In the next hour, 2 more in the net.
They were all close to the same size, right around 3 lbs. One was a little bigger, about 3 ˝ lbs.
Let me tell you… This was the 1st time I have landed a trout of any size to speak of since I got my kayak, and it had me laughing.
WTF do I do now!  :smt044
I tried grabbing the line to unhook him, too much thrashing, I was afraid he would break off.  :smt003
Wait! There is a net on board, where the “@#%&” is it…    :smt044
Old and $hitty people like me should think ahead more is all I can say.
Sorry no pics, I am still nervous about taking a camera along, as I seem to have a bad habit of dropping things in the water...
Any way, some good experience on the yak today to boost my confidence.

Old and $hitty people like me

:smt005  You're younger and cleaner than you're taking credit for, I'm sure!

WTG on the trout, and thanks for the report.   :smt001

No seriously, THANKS!  That's a great report, gives those of us who crave salt something to look forward to doing.  Between you and GB2, I think I might actually make it through this winter!   :smt044
