You probably dont remember me but we exchanged some messages years ago from the Blanton board, after I wrecked my kayak and nearly drowned under Nimbus dam.    I think you found my torn up kayak downstream later.

trip, a couple months ago now, I was also throwing T11, but on a 7 weight, and landed a 23" striper and a couple LMB's on clousers.     On hindsight, i wised i had used LC13 or T14 to get down faster.   Seems most of the stripers were pretty deep, which seems less suitable for T11.

Hi Lawrence,

I sure do remember pulling your kayak out the SF American, I was very happy not to find a body in it, maybe less happy when you told me I missed out by not salvaging your cooler/lunch...

I agree that LC-13 or T14 gets down quicker, but they also need a faster retrieve to keep them at a given depth than T11, which I think can sortof hover and tease reluctant fish with a slower retrieve. It is a PITA to wait to get down, tho. I use mono running lines, which helps I think.

Mike  -   you do remember!   And, yes, i did have a great lunch in that cooler.

Ever since that experience, I dont go anywhere near water without a life jacket.  That was a life changing experience.   I was kept alive only by the desire to see my unborn son, who just turned 9 2 weeks ago.   Many people speculate his middle name - Winston - was in memory of one of my favorite fly rods lost to the river on that trip.   I lost my beloved Winston fly rod to the river that day, but in return, i got my life back and the chance to know and watch my boy grow up.   A pretty good deal, I would say.
