I had planned on going to the Point Arena coast this weekend but the water was too rough up there. I wanted to try out my new FF installation so I invited a friend and his friend on a leopard shark hunt.

It was chilly in Sacramento yesterday so I figured it would be colder on the bay today. We launched at 730ish and I had to take off my sweatshirt before we even launched. There was no wind and the surface was calm. The current was very strong and my 10 lb mushroom wouldn't hold me until later when the tide slacked.

I tried in the 45' deep water at ship inlet to the wall but didn't get a bite. We went back in the direction of the launch and fished in the 12' depth. We caught over 10 leopards at least as many stingrays and 1 small 7 gill. Most of the sharks were about 2 feet long but we had a couple pushing 36". We caught a couple of huge stingrays. I was using a Diawa sealine40 with the drag almost as tight as it would go and that ray made numerous long runs. All fish were C&R.

I would have put out an invite but this was a last minute thing after cancelling the original plans.

Sounds like a blast.  I take it the fishfinder worked well?   :smt001

It worked great. I used the ram Mast mount and a 12 volt battery. I mounted the battery in a tupperware that I velcroed to the inside of the hull. The wires run under the hatch lid so I didn't have to drill anything. I am not mechanically inclined so I was very happy that it worked.
