I was wondering if we have any folks here that drop anchor to soak bait for Striper in the Delta or Sacramento River system?  And how do you deal with the wake of boaters?  Any tips??

I've done a little bait fishing like you asked about.  In the main river off Sherman Island, and in a variety of sloughs.  Done Ok and it's allot of fun. As for wakes, I've really never had a problem but I could see where it could be.  I've stayed away from ski areas, and had most boats give me a wide berth.  Sometimes wakes are not as bad as they look, but you need to be prepared. When anchor fishing always be ready to ditch your anchor at a moments notice, attach a float to the end of the line then you can go back and pick it up later.  Always be ready to get tipped over, it's a rule I need to follow better.  And if you've never been dumped and gotten back into your yak, make sure your PFD is on and practice getting back into your yak someplace safe.

Have fun and be safe.

Remember that if your yak is anchored and you end up in the water you will be swept down current. You'll never be able to swim against a strong current with a pfd on. So you might want to tether your pfd (that you are wearing) to the yak.

Butterfly your shad and use scents.

You'll need Adobe Floatation Maker. I don't know if it's cheaper at Cabelas or Office Depot  :smt044

I havent bait fished the delta but if you throw your legs over the sides of your yak, you can handle just about anything that doesnt actually tip the kayak over.
