Hit broadway bait in Sacto at 4:30 for some anchovy and herring popsicles.
Got to Richmond around 6AM. WAY before the gates opened (8AM).
A little breezy so I decided to catch a nap and wait for it to settle down.
Got OTW about 7:30. Pulled out the herring popsicles and it smelled rancid. I noticed one end of the bag had about a 1 1/2 inch cut on the bottom. I pulled out a herring and it was covered with mold. Dumped the rotten contents over the side and went with the chovies.
Had one takedown that I thought stuck for sure. I waited a while to call " Fish on! " to CHUB to make sure I had him.
I was trying to decide which way to tow him as I had a tug and barge bearing down on me. Just then the fish said adios.
Thought for sure I had him as I was using a stinger too.
No love for me or CHUB but plenty of action dodging all the traffic.
That was my first time on the Bay. I had NO idea there were that many different vessels OTW. The weather was perfect and I cannot wait to get back at it.

Great report, Mike - the variety and style of vessels reminds me of the great artistic variety of creatures/droids in the original Star Wars movies, but I'm a tripper in that way!   :smt002  Way to venture out in search of the AOTY targets.

Good Man, Don, for giving that tip-pic of your killer bait for their destination.  NCKA right there.   :smt045

The other amazing thing about that area is the History, A paddle in to that Harbor will send ya Back to WW2..

Looks as though some of those docks have not been walked on since then...

Go the other way under the San Rafael Brige, and it becomes a old ( I think ) Naval Base, off limits by shore, still waiting to exsplore this area,

go further into Point Pinole and you come into where they made Gun Powder during the War,

Very Interesting, Diverse and productive area for Hali's, Stripers and Sturgeon.... :smt002

Tote, from the reports it looks like you can probably fish for halibut  all the way until Christmas. Hope to catch up with you next time you are in the area.

:smt005  "OUR" spots! Naoaki.

Good try Tote, thanks for the pics of my frontyard. :smt003 i've never hook'd one there either :smt009 You and Chub picked a good day to hunt in though, the wind is usually relentless there.

Next time if you go there and the wind is CRAZY?...go over the SanRaf'-Rich.Bridge, look to the right after getting across and you'll see a rod&gun club pier. Get off at the FIRST exit, there is a small lot along the shore.....and a secret one that requires a PM. :smt002  it's a little more forgiving with the wind& was productive last month.
