Hey, StevenM from Australia!  I've not heard of the Tarpon 100, but I assume it's 10' long...  Sounds like it has potential to be a good stream boat, but a Malibu Mini-X might be something you want to check out too.

Let's see some photos of your streams and other fishing locales down there!   :smt001

I had a T100 for awhile and had considered using it for streams but it moved out when she did.
It was quick, agile, and could track fairly well for a short SOT. It was stable enough to stand on in flat water and still capable of spin moves(with legs straps and some skills with the paddle).
The big thing that turned me off about this boat ,for streams, was the tupperware hatch system. The smaller ones come off to easily on a hot day and 1 solid hydrolic could pull one off.
Prior to that I was using the WS Riot for fishing streams. I would not recommend this boat. At 5'11  180#s, I was too big for it and had sent me swimming more than any other boat ive paddled.
I went with the Mini-X. The layout is great and no tupperware. It isnt as slippery as the T100 but Im happy with its performance.
The new 2009 Tarpon boats have dumped the tupperware system so I would recommend testing one.
You may be a stronger paddler than I am but I wouldnt recommend  running anything bigger than soft C2 in these boats and I would go with legstraps for greater control and a strong foundation to help power out of a situation.
I couldnt find any good pictures except one of the T100 and the Riot in the lair. You can see how they compare to the T140 as far as size goes. unfortunately the 100 is in the back ground next to another 14 footer.
Im also interested in seeing pictures of the streams you folks are paddling and fishing.
good luck

I was in Ipswich in 1997.  Small world.

Good luck with the T100.  I have a T120 and I love it.  I know 2 feet can make a major difference.  The 100 has to be more manueverable than the 120 and I had no problems with it in the Russian River.  I hope that helps.

StevenM,

No worries mate, the T100 is a very stable, agile yak. My kid has one, but she's always wanting to paddle my Prowler13 :smt012, so I, at 6"5" end up on the T100. And being 10',it'll turn about easily in the creeks and streams.. :smt002
