...Oh well I had to settle for the slower fish. One legal ling and a variety of other rf. I am not sure what made that bite go wfo.

I was constantly watching my GPS most of the time & we kept drifting fast to the southwest.  A little after 11 the heavy drift completely stopped (it was dead high-tide I checked) & that's when the bite went off.  I picked up all my big fish in all levels of the water column right then, so I'm thinking that the cessation of the heavy drift definitely had something to do with it.  I would imagine some of the currents below on the reef must venturi to 10k or so, if there's a period of still water maybe they all shoot out & it's a free-for-all?

PS. Way to go on the 32 incher Eric!  Carl, nice on the Boccacio!  I never saw you guys but I think I heard you thru the fog.

Your guys summed up nicely. I am grateful to the great crew leading to the great trip. I knew that I did not want to miss this trip when I found out this last thursday. Horay  :smt006

GB2 & Sackyak- you are way cool. Feed everyone with tasty hotdogs & cookies.
Ramon & Carl - Fun to ride with you. Thanks for driving.
Sandman - Good to see you came out. Let me watch your yak next time.  :smt044
Ken & PJ - nice to fish with you first time. PJ - I saw you in ~200ft away. :-)

My ling was not 32". It is only 29". I was too excited on the water as you noticed.  :smt002

Scott, I think we should start bombproofing all your equipment, the sea keeps wanting to get your stuff.  Glad you guys were able to retrieve your yaks.

That drafting through the kelp works for sure, my kid is always behind me and says the water is flat adn the kelp down from my passage.

hopefully I can join you guys on your next run
