Do you have an exact day that the opening is going to happen? By brother-in-law's (2) live in Mo-town, and was thinking about going down and see them after the great rush happens during the opening. This weekend the new store "Sheels" opens up in Reno. That is suppose to give Cabelas a run for it's money. Make sure to post pics when you go to the grand opening.

The last I had heard, several months ago, it was supposed to open Friday Oct. 3rd.  Those attending BAM won't be able to make it, although that may not be a bad thing as I suspect it will be absolute mayhem.

Actually, BPS is now scheduled to open on Oct 15th, 2008. A wednesday.  You can actually tell from their website, as a lot of their events are scheduled to start that day.  http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CFPage?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&appID=94&template=listallevents.cfm&storeID=51#36169

Bass Pro Shops Grand Opening date has been set!

Several of you have asked the question and now I can finally let the cat out of the bag!!! Bass Pro Shops of Manteca will be opening the doors on October15, 2008. That's right, three days before the BOS opener!

The doors will finally open to the public on Wednesday at 8 AM. We will be celebrating the Grand Opening by holding a special Evening for Conservation starting at 5 PM lasting till 9 PM. Several different conservation groups will be on hand to answer any questions you may have during this time. You will be able to meet with staff members and volunteers from California Waterfowl Association, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Quail Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation, Safari Club International, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Mule Deer Foundation, California Department of Fish & Game, California Inland Fisheries Foundation & Trout Unlimited.

The actual ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 6 PM, followed by the meet & greet with several different guest. I will have the final list of the guest for all of you on Friday, but I know for a fact Janette Lee will be at the store. If you would like to learn how to play a wicked round of pool with her, you will be able to do so. There will be some personalities that you have seen on TV and possibly in a neighborhood near you.

We will be giving commemorative Grand Opening gifts, Thursday through Sunday for the first 200 people each day with proof of purchase. Each day will be a different item and some will have a gift card with them ranging in price from $5 to $100.

October will also be Pheasants Forever Conservation month, in which Bass Pro Shops will be accepting $2 donations to help support Pheasants Forever in there continuing conservation & habitat efforts. With your $2 donation to help support Pheasants Forever, you will be entered into a sweepstakes that will be held for a special Pheasant hunt for 2 people in South Dakota. Additional prizes will include Bass Pro Shops gift cards ranging in various dollar amounts.

Several different vendors will be on hand for the 5 day opening to also help you with any questions you may have. So feel free to come on by for our very special event!!

This weekend the new store "Sheels" opens up in Reno. That is suppose to give Cabelas a run for it's money.

I bought my license and tags at a Sheels store in North Dakota last year. I would rate it right up there with Cabelas and BPS. It's definitely worth checking out if you get to Reno :smt002.
