Anybody have any updates on the availability and quality of minnows at the shop?

Do we need Mahi Mahi to fend off the riff raff hanging around the shop?

I don't know why but I get the idea that the Mendo Bait Shop is not looking good.  I'd love to support the Mendocino economy but like I said, I feel like they're not up to par.

I know that I'll be transporting my own from home.  Bought an aerator a couple months back and it plugs into the car.  I cut a small hole into the lid of my 5 gallon bucket and slide the airline thru the hole and attach the stone and then pop the lid on to prevent spilling of water and bait.

I need to work on my bail transport bucket!  I considered using the cooler I have for my OB, maybe plumbing it so I can install my cheapy aerator to it, although I don't think it's very water tight through the lid.
I think I might have asked this before, but what do minnow run $$ wise, I suspect you get them by the dozen? Are prices pretty standard?

If you get the "JUMBO" ones you pay about $1.50 each. Well worth the money if you are after the "BIG" ones.  :smt003

I bought minnows there today, $12 for a dozen. They were lively but not jumbo, sorta small. The stripers enjoyed them nonetheless.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

I hope the bait shop is aware of the upcomming BAM event and stocks up plenty of minnows! I'm hoping to maybe get some down here so I won't be relying on them for my bait.

For CSBA, I had picked up some jumbos at the Castro Valley Sportsman's shop. I should have paid more attention when the owner said he was having pump problems. A third of my minnows never tasted Mendo waters.

Coyote Bait and Tackle in the South Bay has Jumbos for $0.99 a piece.  Their jumbos usually push 4 inches although I'm not sure if that is what most consider jumbo.

The last time I was there a guy pulled up one that easily went 6 or 7 inches.  He asked me if I wanted it and I kind of freaked out and said nah cuz I was afraid he'd have cannibalized all my other boys by the time I got to the water.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

has anyone seen jumbos lately?
word on the water is that the fuller figured super agents are hard to find due to midwestern storms.
I was on the lake yesterday and witnessed bass blowing up on bait fish that were xl size so it may not be that big of a deal, but the largemouth and the striper are different animals.

Maybe Don has the right idea.  The rest of us should buy some now and start fattening them up!  :smt044  :smt002

In the mid morning at Mendo the bass action on the shad is epic. You can watch it from the bank as the bass chase the bait fish, as well as the ducks. The Mendo Bait shot is a blow job, get you bait somewhere else! The don't even have beer?!?!?!?

What up Terry??

You don't call anymore?!

CHEERS!
