I think I may have asked this in the past as well, but trying a search didn't help me locate any answers.

OK,  It is safe to say I've never fished with minnows. So with that out of the way, I know there are hooks designed for them, live bait hooks,  (I probably have some) how is a minnow rigged?  Carolina rigged, Texas rigged?  any weights used, worm sinker? I'm picturing a bait hook through the nose of the minnow, on a leader,(Leader length, what, 2 to 3 feet?), below a swivel.
I have rigged power worms whacky, Carolina and my favorite Texas rigged for bass. Do I rig a minnow like I do  worm for bass?
I'll be trying for striper's at the upcoming BAM IV and I don't want to be (sorry Mooch) mooching any tackle or look like the complete striper noob I am while there.
I've got plenty of time to gather what tackle I may not have already, Gotta love FW for that!
Thanks for your patient's

Sean "Scwafish" wrote up an article awhile back with everything you need to know about catching striped bass in Lake Mendocino.  http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?page=Stripers_on_Kayak_at_Lake_Mendocino

Here's the section on rigging.  It's basically as you guessed with a 1/4 oz sliding sinker above the swivel.

Quote
The setup is basic. I use a medium or medium/heavy weight rod, and baitcaster with 12# test and rig up a ¼ oz sliding egg sinker above 3 foot flouro leader with small size 2 live bait hook. Use sharp, high-end hooks for good hooksets, my favorite hook is a Gamakatsu # 220409. Once on the water pin on a bait with the hook exiting vertically just behind the nostrils of the shad. Let out about 100-125 feet of line and start trolling.

Thanks B!  I knew I read something in the past about this.  I do believe I have the stuff he mentioned, as I probably went out and got it after I read the article the first time, knowing I would be going to Lake mendo at some point in the future.
