Alas, the fpu (female parental unit) is in town for 5 days during the derby. Seeing as she is both a yakker and fly fisher, I made a bold play, suggesting we do the family get together in Canada. Shot down! She wants to be in the bay area with both my sister and me :smt013.
So i try pull another fast one and ask my sister how she would feel having the fpu all to herself for most of the time she was here. I remind her how we always end up arguing during moms stays as sh stresses us out so much and add that I could fly out to Denver to see mom some other time. Well that suggestion flew about as well as a downrigger weight. You'd think being a bachelor it would be easy, not having to factor WAF into the equation...well i just discovered 2 new powerful variables..
SAF (Sister AF) and MAF (Mother AF)
Sister did say she could look after the pooch if necessary for MBK and this Tomales derby :smt003.

That sounded like a lot of work.

So ... any other NCKA brethren still thinking about making this one.  You know you need to somehow get your king salmon fix in this year.

It's been a tough past month of work, so it's time for me to go to my happy place.  The truck is packed and we're leaving early tomorrow to work our way up to Moutcha.  One of the guys went up last week and while the bite was tougher than last year, he still came home with 4 fish (caught 5 out of 10 hooked) ... 32#, 30#, 26#, and 23#.  Damn!  If that doesn't excite you, I don't know what will.  The recent rains up there should be drawing in fresh fish daily too.
