I'm not sure if this is the right forum...  but here's the story:

Some of you have seen the cracks that started to appear on the Liquid Logic Manta Ray I purchased from CCK about a year and 1/2 ago...  The cracks are around the front edge of the seat, and both sides, and the cupholder.  I emailed Keith inquiring about warrantee, etc, and he got back to me the next day.  They wanted pics, but since a friend is interested in a Hobie sailing kayak we decided to head down to the shop.  I was a little nervous because the yak is obviously well-used, (been in the water every weekend since I got it, actually!), and I never filled out a warrantee card or anything...  no receipt handy...

We showed up Sat and it happened to be the day CCK was having a big paddle for breast cancer benefit...  Needless to say they were pretty busy with that!

But despite the poor timing Keith looked at my kayak within minutes and deemed it a warrantee issue.  Tells me to keep my yak so I don't miss any days on the water and they'll order me a new replacement on Monday.  Never looked at me crosseyed, questioned my treatment of the yak, or anything.  And I won't miss any trips meanwhile!

Not only that, but Keith arranged to have my bud on the water to demo the 16' Hobie pontoon sailing kayak, despite all the distractions and long day he had already put in with the benefit.

How's that for customer service???????

Props to CCK!!

It's nice to hear something positive about my old workplace. Keith was always cool to me & the staff I knew there. Teaching kayak rescue classes in Oakland water though, that was a drag.

Nasty...  I thought of that when I saw a rubberfish floating near the dock.

I have to say though I've never been treated so well by a business.  Keith has a way of making you feel welcome.

Keith Miller, owner of California Canoe and Kayak.....is a primo dude.

Never seen anyone with greater personal responsibility----even at where it comes a CONSIDERABLE personal cost.

It's unethical, to sell sit-inside kayaks, without TELLING people in a very serious eye-contact-sort-of-way, that they really cannot buy or own or use such a boat without learning the Eskimo Roll.

Keith Miller at CCK does just that......and he makes sure his store employes tell people that.

Miller and CCK-------is the only kayak dealer anywhere-----who puts in an incredible Every Thursday Night commitment to teaching people how to eskimo roll a boat.

CCK rents the Richmond "John F. Kennedy Highschool" swimming pool EVERY thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.......and allows ANY PERSON to come in with their own boat and practice the Eskimo Roll (and listen in, and watch regular instruction) ....for an At Cost Price of $10.

Miller---personally most nights---goes and breathes the chlorine-air....

I've watched Miller's "act" from the distance that all customers have from vendors.    Nothing closer than that.    I just buy my whitewater stuff there.

And why wouldn't I......
Never seen a guy more straight-across than him.
