Paddled solo out of HMB harbor at about 10:00 to some of the flatest water I've ever seen.  Fished with about 6 other boats out in front of sail rock for a steady pick of small to medium sized rockies (all released), a couple of underlings and one keeper ling for the grill.  Drifted dead squid for butts in 45' around the jaws for one solid takedown but couldn't stick it.  Wind kicked me off the water around 3.
Side note:
Before I launched there was talk among some returning kayakers about a large gray fin that surfaced briefly about 100' in front of one of the boats didn't hear the location. With that and Joel's whale pics fresh in my head I had two harbor seals scare the hell out of me when I was paddling back from the reef.  I heard a big splash about 10 feet behind my boat and instantly turned to see what it was.  I see the seal scrambling on the surface and thought something might be chasing it so I went to start paddling away from it and then Bam, something thumped the hull and splashed the hell out of me from right under the rail of my boat.  I went right into Holy $#@! mode.  So I'm looking around for ten of the longest seconds of my life then finally I see the seal surface again..........then his little buddy comes up right next to him.........little sob's........they continued to follow me and splash around.........I think they were mocking me.
