The Delta Bass Posse (XSquid, James, 152 Sumo, and myself) headed out into the darkness before dawn to harass those bass one more time.  XSquid was the first to hook up with a porky 4 pounder on the frog.  Despite that topwater fish and a buzzbait fish James had at the boat, the topwater bite was slow.  I think XSquid pulled another on the frog, but he'll have to tell his own story...

Sumo got a few senko fish, and then James got a few on senkos too (pic 1).  I threw a shallow running crankbait over the weeds for several smallish one pounders.  Later in the morning I got this near-keeper-sized striper (pic 2) as a nice bonus species.  Sumo also started getting fish on the crankbait and nailed two in a row off a point in the current.

Then things slowed down a bit as the morning became hotter towards midday.  XSquid worked the jig for some good bites, and a fish or two.  With a deep diving crank, I got a lucky bite, and pulled in this nice 4 pound 14 ounce bass (pic 3).  The fish really gave a strong fight with several runs and had my rod bent as much as it would go!  Soon, the heat off the day wore us out and we turned to head home.  I picked up a few more fish on the crankbait (including a little bluegill) on the way in; Sumo then picked up his biggest fish of the day on a crankbait, a chunky 3 pound 10 ounce bass (pic 4).

All in all, it was good company and good fishing all day.
Thanks guys...lets do it again soon.

Wow!  Great report, great fish!  I launched out of Bethel Island friday and didn't get a bite.  It's good to see somebody hitting the Bass on the Delta.
I'll have to try again sometime next week.

Good fishing with you guys today.  I found the bite to be a bit tougher than expected.  With constant high temps and a good high then outgoing tide, I thought it would be off the hook.  Maybe the full moon had a little influence?  Either way I was a bit off my game.  Missed a couple in the a.m. on the frog.  Managed to stick a nice one (pics).  Tried like hell to get the flip bite with the jig in the tules and finally got on some.  Missed two good hits then managed two smallish bass.  No luck fishing the mats today in the heat, that bite has kind of gone away these last couple of trips.  It might be time to actually throw the crankbaits I have!

Nice report. You had better luck than I did.
I was on the north delta at 8am, off around noon. Had three or four hits on my frogs but none stuck. Caught one 12" lmb on a senko. Very slow today. I blame the moon.

I was thinking the same about the moon.. I had a pretty good day compared to my normal skunky pattern.  7 fish total on 3 new baits for me.  I've never caught fish on the wacky senko, usually do terrible with crankbaits, and only 1 or 2 previous fish on a jig.  Todays fish: 2 on wacky senko, 4 on the crankbait, 1 on the jig.  For me, anything over the limit is awesome.  Ill post a couple pics in the am, I am wiped out.

The DPB hitting the delta before dawn!   :glasses6: :glasses8:
That was an EXCELLENT report and documentation of another WDBA HBryan. Followed by those participating posse members personal details got me ALL PUMP'D UP!
congrat's Ben on your limit  :smt007 you got em' on the VARITY and that's hard.

....I think that FULL MOON has something to do with it, but some fish do and will bite, but it DEFINETLY seems like it is way slower for a few days.
