A great day to be on the water. Very small swell, slow to no drift, and no chop until mid afternoon, the wind came up a little but was still doable. Tons of chinas, plenty of gophers, some blacks and blues. Will picked off a nice red and I finally managed a ling on my last drop at the mouth of the boat channel, my first one boated this season. :smt003

Hey Jim, that water looks real nice. A lot nicer than we saw at Salt Point on Sat. Good call on the location and day. Now, where's the shot of that ling buddy? Dive Shell Beach on the 23rd if doable? Abman is up for it but the conditions got to be just right. Later, Craig

You said about 20 feet max right? I'm definitely a mediocre diver but I'll give it a shot under good conditions if you and Abman are down for it. Hope the vis is good and surge is low that day. Low tide 10am 2.8ft.

Nice work Jim...I've got to get back to that area at least once more this season...

Will probably look to camp and fish on a weekend with a kayak newbie. I'd love to put him on some fish with confidence; easy to get shut out around my neighborhood.
Always willing to join others in the Monterey/Santa Cruz/Half Moon Bay area for a bit of fishing...feel free to contact me.

Well I'll chime in, it was a unbelievable day on the water. A good one to go out on being I'm going in for surgery and might be off the water for a while. We launched at about 0730 and were on the water for about 8 hours. Perfect conditions, no wind, no waves, no wind chop. We drifted out the river with the low tide and came back in on the hight tide. The action could have been better. I managed three small rockies, two China's and a gopher and the red that redyak posted the picture of. The red did put up a good fight, i thought he was going to be a little bigger with the battel. I will try to post the pictures i took if i can figure out how to get them on the post.

grats on your ling and thanks for the pic&port.....sliding out that river on the out-go and coming back in the inflow was quite a long day.....sweet conditions will always keep me out on the water longer that planned.
